On the occasion of the 50th New York Film Festival kicking off this week, I’ve rounded up posters that had been commissioned
for the annual Lincoln Center event. As I did not have access to an archive, I
was only able to locate images for roughly half. The 1962 poster for the first NYFF, below, was by Larry Rivers. He was the
first of a long roster of art stars to undertake the assignment. Notably
absent, (from those I found, at least) were Peter Max and Milton Glaser.
